In this IP-obsessed world, it is quite easy to wonder if anything will ever actually come to an end. Theoretically, the Final Fantasy 7 trilogy of remakes will be coming to an end next year with Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. Except that might not even be true because a couple of pieces of DLC, about Sephiroth and Vincent Valentine respectively, are also in the works, so who knows when the actual end date is. Whether this is actually the end of Final Fantasy 7 or not, however, doesn't matter, as its director is treating it that way.

I'm pretty sure that by this point, Square Enix have shown up to every major gaming showcase this summer with something Final Fantasy 7 Revelation related (even if that German Geoff Night one was mostly a waste of everyone's time). However! The latest trailer offered the one thing that I know is on everyone's mind: will Cloud drive a motorbike again. Oh, and a release date.

Final Fantasy 7 is the game that never seems to end. That's not just because the original PS1 release is filled with things to do, it's because of the subsequent follow-ups that came as part of the Final Fantasy 7 Compilation. It's also because of the whole remake thing that Square Enix has been doing over the past few years, with the third part, Revelation, due out next year. And as hard as it might be to believe, according to director Naoki Hamaguchi, this really will be the end. For the remake trilogy, at least. More or less.
