Multimillionaire leader of Reform in Scotland gets humiliated after admitting he owns six houses, six boats and five cars on TV debate
Reformβs Scottish leader, Lord Malcolm Offord, got humiliated after admitting to having six houses, six boats and five cars during an STV election debate yesterday.Β
In an attempt to paint the Green Party as anti-success and anti-business, Offord said that he went to London 40 years ago, with Β£2,000 in debt and βfull of ambitionβ.
He said that he βworked hardβ and was successful, and that βToday, I own six houses, five cars and six boatsβ. Offord also said he has paid Β£45 million in tax through his business.Β
He was then laughed at as he said: βI donβt say that to boastβ.
Offord then asked the Scottish Green Party co-leader, Ross Greer, if the Greens would want more or less people like him in Scotland.
Greer fired back: βFewer people like you. Iβm glad youβve finally admitted how many homes that you have, Lord Offord.β
Greer continued: βI think itβs worth at this point in the debate pointing out that there are three times as many holiday homes and empty properties in this country as there are homeless children.Β
βYou donβt need six homes, you donβt even need two homes, everybody just needs a home to live in.β
Greer said that to tackle the housing crisis, βsuper rich elite individualsβ like Offord βshould be giving up some of those homesβ so that people without a home can have somewhere to live.
Offord looked down at the podium as Greer gave his answer, and then changed the subject when he was given the opportunity to respond to the Green MSP.Β
